Apple TV
Apple TV got a price cut in the US on Monday, with the media streamer now being sold in Apple's homeland at $69, down
from the $99 price tag since the launch of the third-generation product. The price cut is not restricted to the US market, with the Apple TV also receiving similar price drops elsewhere.
NDTV Gadgets has learnt that in India the Apple TV will now retail at Rs. 5,900, a drop of over Rs. 2,000 from the old MRP. While that certainly makes the Apple TV more affordable, it still has its task cut out competing against the likes of Google Chromecast that are available at half the price.
Apple TV is a box that connects to your TV via the HDMI port and lets you stream videos from Internet sites like YouTube and Vimeo, with content from partners like MLB, NFL, NHL, and others also available. Outside India, the Apple TV also supports Netflix and other services like HBO Now.
Using Home Sharing, users can also play downloaded music and movies on their Apple TV as long as the content is stored in iTunes on a computer logged on to the same network. With AirPlay, you can stream music and movies from your phone or computer to the big screen. Apple TV also lets users extended their computer's desktop on to the TV wirelessly, or simply mirror the computer or phone's screen on the TV
