Apple, BlackBerry, Samsung, Nokia and other global brands have come up with smartphones equipped with powerful mobile operating systems such as Google’s Android, Nokia’s Symbian, Microsoft's Windows Phone, Apple’s iOS, etc, These smartphones are
more commonly known for their poor battery life. Because these smartphones allow us to do MULTIPLE activities like checking mails, Browsing Internet, location Services, Playing games, and due to this the battery will be ticking down to zero. To avoid this happening and to make your smart phone battery last longer follow the tips posted below.
Just try these 10 tips on your phone tomorrow and observe the improved battery life of your smartphone.
1. Turn Off Vibrations

2. Reduce Brightness of Screen :
The large screen of your smartphone is one of the main reason for the rapid drain of battery. So, it better to dim when indoors where even 35% brightness is sufficient. Or else you can set your Brightness to Auto mode which is available in almost all smart phones.3. Minimize Screen Timeout :
To minimize the power consumption of your smartphone of the screen display, you ought to consider shortening the screen timeout. This decides how long the screen will remain "ON" after you finish interacting with it.To minimize it, Go to your phone's display settings menu, you will find an option 'Screen Timeout' or something similar. (On an iPhone, look for Auto-Lock in the General settings menu.)4.Use a dark Wall Paper / Lockscreen :
Using very light wallpaper consumes more battery as it requires more contrast. So it is good to use a dark coloured wallpaper and Lock screen.Note : Avoid using any live Wall Papers / Lock screens.
5. Manage your apps smartly:
Multitasking - the ability to run more than one app at a time - is a powerful smartphone feature. And obviously it burns a lot of energy, because every app you run uses a share of your phone's processor cycles. So it's better to keep an eye on background running application and clean them time to time. You can also uninstall unnecessary applications that run background and constantly gives "push notifications".6. Charge Your Battery Correctly
Speaking of phone charging, there are generally two kinds of rechargeable batteries commonly used for smartphones: Lithium-ion (Li-Ion), and Nickel-based batteries: namely Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd).
NiCd Battery shows reduction in battery capacity after every charge. NiCd batteries have longer life cycles i.e. they can be recharged more often than NiMH batteries before their life ends. So it is advisory to charge Nickel-based batteries up to 100% when they’re more or less out of power, and not when there’s still a good amount of energy left.
Most smartphone uses Li-Ion batteries which have longest life cycle among the three types of batteries mentioned above. But they are required to be charged more frequently (even when the battery is not fully used up) to maintain its original capacity. You may need to Google appropriate charging strategy for maintaining longer battery life.
7. Switch Off Location Services ( GPS ) :
Certain apps eat up more battery than others, particularly apps which use the GPS system to track your location. GPS is a very useful feature in most smartphones, but unfortunately they’re also a great way to drain your batteries. So its better to use it smartly , like disabling this option in facebook and other applications. You are advised to turn it off when it's not needed.
8. Leave some works for apps
Apps like Battery Doctor will give you a much better indication of what's literally eating away at your phone's battery over time than Android's own limited battery life checker. There are more apps in this category like Battery Life Pro or Easy Battery Saver which shows a detailed information of battery and device performance.
9. Lock Your Phone :
Locking the screen on your phone kill many processes, like it turns off the touch hardware, which results to longer battery life.
10. Disable 3/4G when not browsing :
The 3G and 4G radios use more power than their 2G or EDGE counterparts, so disabling 3G/4G while not browsing Internet will surely help your battery to last longer. The option’s available under Mobile Networks on Android Windows P, or Cellular on iOS.
...and be cool, keep it cool
Cooler is the temperature better will be the performance of your battery. But with continuos use of smartphone you battery may get heat up which lowers efficiency over time. Putting your phone in a looser pocket might help, or perhaps just gently fanning it while it charges.
